Acronym Guide

Below are some common acronyms/shorthanded words that I will probably use in posts. Literally everything in the cyber/computer world has an acronym. This will most likely be updated often so check back every once in a while if you get lost in a post.

• IP (Address) - Internet Protocol (Address)

• VM - Virtual Machine

• UDP - User Datagram Protocol

• SSH - Secure Shell

• SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol (FTP over SSH)

• APT - Advanced Persistent Threat

• IDS - Intrusion Detection System

• IPS - Intrusion Detection System

• NAS - Network Attached Storage

• DMZ - Demilitarized Zone

• PII - Personal Identifiable Information

• PHI - Protected Health Information

• IDA - The Interactive Disassembler

• TS - Top Secret

• SCI - Sensitive Compartmented Information

• LP - Listening Post

• FOSS - Free and Open-Source Software

• SSL - Secure Socket Layer

• TLS - Transport Layer Security

• WEP - Wired Equivalent Privacy

• OSINT - Open-Source Intelligence
